The Patriots had a bye week this Sunday….borrriiinnngggg. I like football and all – but I really only like watching the Pats. However, my boyfriend is in a couple of fantasy leagues and bets on games, so he gets super into watching the games, NFL Red Zone, etc. 🙂
He put in a request for a funky dip this weekend and I was much obliged to bring a smile to his face. He picked and Pinned this recipe, so it was only fair. This recipe is NOT healthy and there is no way to pretend that it is! However, it came out incredibly delicious and only took about 1/2 hr to prep.
Honestly, who doesn’t love a good bacon cheeseburger? This brings all those flavors together and makes it possible to eat with some scoop chips!
Bacon Cheeseburger Dip
- 1/2 lb. ground beef (I used 95% lean)
- 8 pieces of bacon, cut into chunks
- 1 small onion, finely minced
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
- 1 tsp. oregano
- pinch of crushed red pepper
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp. ketchup
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 1/4 c. mayo
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
~ Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9″ baking pan. I used olive oil cooking spray.
~ Cook the ground beef in a pan with a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Cook it until it is no longer pink. Drain and remove from the pan; set aside.
~ In the same pan, cook the bacon until it is crisped to your liking. Remove the bacon from the pan and drain on paper towels. Add the garlic and onion and cook it in the bacon grease. This should take about 5 minutes. Mix the beef, bacon, onion, and garlic together and set aside.
~ in a separate bowl, mix together the cream cheese, worcestershire sauce, ketchup, sour cream, and mayo. This should turn a light orange color 🙂 Add the cheeses and stir. Add pepper and salt to taste. You probably won’t need the salt, but to each their own.
~ Combine the meat mixture with the creamy cheese mixture. Stir all together and turn it out into the prepared baking dish.
~ Cook for 15-20 minutes or until everything is bubbling and calling your name!! We enjoyed this with an assortment of chips 🙂
~ Enjoy!!! I was thinking afterwards that a dash of mustard probably would have been delish in here…next time!!! 🙂
