This weather has been unseasonably warm. It has only made sense to use our grill until the last possible minute!
On the nights I work late, my boyfriend, Brian, takes over the cooking duties. He has started pinning his favorite recipes and duplicating them in his own fashion. It’s so cute <3
I missed the preparation part of these so there are no pictures of that, but they were absolutely unbelievable. They were moist (turkey burgers have a tendency to get very dry IMHO), flavorful, and the perfect weeknight dinner. The grilled pineapple and Swiss cheese complemented the extra teriyaki sauce well!!
He found the recipe here on a favorite of mine, Six Sisters’ Stuff. This recipe is perfect and I highly recommend it to anyone who is watching their waist, who likes Hawaiian flavors, or who has functioning tastebuds!! 🙂
Hawaiian Turkey Burgers
- 1 lb. lean ground turkey breast
- 1/2 c. unseasoned bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. green bell pepper, minced
- 1/2 c. scallions, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 4 pineapple rings
- 1/4 c. pineapple juice (typically from can or from container — I prefer fresh)
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- teriyaki sauce for garnish
~ Combine turkey breast with bread crumbs, pepper, scallions, ginger, salt, pepper, and pineapple juice. Mix together and form into 4 patties.
~ Grill the patties until they are cooked throughout. During the last few minutes of cooking, throw the pineapple rings on the grill, too. Allow them to get some pretty grill marks on them!
~ Place the Swiss slices on the burgers and allow them to slowly melt. Serve with extra teriyaki sauce drizzled over the top. I didn’t eat mine with a bun because I didn’t want to, but these would be yummy with a little bit of light mayo, too!
~ Enjoy 🙂 🙂
